[Economist Reporter Ra Ye-jin] Melon, a music platform of Kakao Entertainment, released the results of its analysis of weekday commuting time data for 2025 on the 30th of last month.

According to Melon Data Lab analysis, streaming peaks during typical commuting hours on weekdays, 8 a.m. and 5-6 p.m. In fact, 8 a.m. and 5-6 p.m. account for about 19% of all streaming volume during the day. Nearly 1/5 of streaming is concentrated in just 1/8 of the 24 hours in a day.

As of 2025, the total number of songs played during weekday commuting hours (8:00 AM) and after-work hours (6:00 PM) was 2,859,000. The cumulative number of plays was 1.25269 billion, which is equivalent to approximately 62.63 million hours when converted to an average playing time of 3 minutes per song.

The top 3 artists who received the most love during their commute were G-DRAGON, DAY6, and aespa, maintaining the same rankings for both commuting and returning home. IU and IVE took 4th and 5th place during commuting, but the order was reversed to IVE and IU during commuting hours. This shows that music with a faster tempo is more popular during commuting hours.

The songs that received a lot of love during both commuting and returning from work were G-Dragon's 'HOME SWEET HOME' and WOODZ's 'Drowning'.
