[All] BTS Jimin X Jungkook, Nominated for US 'BBMAs' for 2nd Consecutive Year... Strong Global Popularity

[My Daily = Reporter Park Seo-yeon] BTS' Jimin and Jungkook have shown their continued strong global popularity by being nominated for awards at the '2024 Billboard Music Awards' in the United States.

According to the list of finalists for the '2024 Billboard Music Awards' (hereinafter referred to as 'BBMAs') announced on the 25th (local time), Jimin and Jungkook were nominated for 'Top Global K-Pop Artist' and 'Top Global K-Pop Song', respectively. They proved their consistent status by being nominated for the 'BBMAs' for their solo activities this year as well as last year.

Jimin nominated the title song "Who" from his second solo album "MUSE" for the "Top Global K-Pop Song" award. "Who" rose to number 14 on Billboard's main song chart, the "Hot 100," immediately after its release, becoming Jimin's 6th solo song to enter the "Hot 100." The song is still loved by many and has been on the "Hot 100" chart for 17 consecutive weeks.

Jungkook is aiming for his second consecutive win in the same category with his solo single "3D (feat. Jack Harlow)" and the title track "Standing Next to You" from his solo album "GOLDEN." "Standing Next to You" was also nominated for the "Top Selling Song" category. "3D (feat. Jack Harlow)" and "Standing Next to You" both entered Billboard's "Hot 100" at No. 5, respectively.

'GOLDEN', which includes 'Standing Next to You', was also nominated for the 'Top K-Pop Album' award. 'GOLDEN' ranked on Billboard's main album chart, 'Billboard 200', for 24 consecutive weeks, setting a record for the longest period of time for a Korean solo artist's album to enter the chart.

Thanks to this popularity, Jungkook became the first K-pop solo artist to be nominated for the Top Song Sales Artist award. Jungkook was selected as a finalist in a total of six categories, making him the K-pop artist with the most nominations at the BBMAs this year.

Meanwhile, BTS, which they are a part of, took home a total of 12 trophies at the 'BBMAs', including 'Top Social Artist' (2017-2021), 'Top Duo/Group' (2019, 2021-2022), 'Top Song Sales Artist' (2021-2022), and 'Top Selling Song' (2021-2022). In addition, Jungkook won 'Top Global K-Pop Song' for his solo single 'Seven (feat. Latto)' at the '2023 BBMAs'.

The 'BBMAs' are considered one of the four major American music award ceremonies along with the 'Grammy Awards', 'American Music Awards', and 'MTV VMAs', and boast such high authority. This year's awards ceremony, which will be held on December 12, will be broadcast on FOX and Amazon Fire TV channels in the United States, and will also be streamed on Paramount+ later.
