Again, the door opened

The wall clock in the living room moved slowly. The small ticking sound of the second hand quietly lingered in the air.

It was soon time for the child to return home.

"mom!"

The front door opened and a child's voice was heard. But the low, urgent voice that followed was unexpected.

"honey."

I froze for a moment.

One step, two steps. Heavy footsteps approaching.

And then, I faced him.

Park Jimin. My husband. But now we are strangers.

I held the child in my arms with a cold face. Jimin's hand was still holding the doorknob.

"Why did you come?"

I asked the question, but I didn't want to hear the answer.

We should have left each other a long time ago.

"I got a call that a child was hurt."

His eyes turned to the child's arm. There was a small bandage wrapped around it. The child had fallen at school, but I didn't think it was anything serious.

But Jimin was different.

He slowly knelt down in front of the child and gently caressed the bandage.

"Were you in a lot of pain?"

"No! Dad, this is nothing!"

The child smiled and jumped into Jimin's arms.

Jimin carefully held the child in his arms.

I couldn't say anything even after seeing that scene.

Even though we were divorced, this man was still our child's father.

"Okay then."

Jimin sighed softly and patted the child's head.

I turned my gaze.

It was a familiar sight.

But at the same time, it felt so unfamiliar.

"If you're ready, then go now."

I said coldly and crossed my arms.

But Jimin was still standing in front of the door.

"My lady."

The moment he called my name, my heart sank.

I tried to suppress my emotions and turned my head away.

"If nothing happened, then that's fine. So go now."

"I don't mind you pushing me away. But are you planning on pushing me away from the child too?"

His voice was calm, but there was a hidden emotion within it.

I kept my mouth shut.

I hoped he wouldn't say any more.

I just wanted them to close the door and leave.

but

"Let's go to the hospital together tomorrow."

I closed my eyes tightly.

And so, the door opened again in his hands.

"You come here now and you want to step into our midst?"
