[talk] Day6 Young K “I made it a habit to check spelling when writing lyrics… Pure Korean is pretty” (Shortform War)
DAY6 member Young K revealed the story behind writing the lyrics.
On August 27, the production presentation for the Sejong Hakdang Foundation's original web entertainment show 'Short-Form War! Everyone's K-Culture' Season 2 (hereafter referred to as 'Short-Form War 2') was held. The production presentation that day was attended by band Day6 members Wonpil and Young K, and broadcasters Alberto, Daniel, and Lucky.
Wonpil, who was the first idol singer to faithfully serve in the Navy and was discharged last November, was unable to participate in Season 1 of 'Short Form War' unlike Day6's leader Sungjin and members Young K and Dowoon. This was because he was serving in the military at the time. He joined as a new member for Season 2 and received a warm welcome from the members.
Young K said about the changes he experienced while filming 'Short Form War', "I've made it a habit to look up the spelling when writing lyrics just in case I make a mistake. But there were still a lot of spellings I didn't know, and since we don't use pure Korean words in our daily lives, I didn't know them well, but they're pretty. There are a lot of words that are soft and relatable. I'm glad I could introduce those words."
There's a reason why Day6's songs have good lyrics. I definitely have to watch the short-form war variety show.
