The reason their songs are popular is because they convey topics that their generation can relate to with friendly melodies. Most of their hit songs, such as “Be A Page,” “You Were Pretty,” “Welcome to the Show,” and “Melt,” are songs that convey messages of support and hope to the youth with melodies that have a clear introduction, development, turn, and conclusion. Since the songs are of high quality, a variety of songs from recent to old songs are gaining popularity, and DAY6’s popularity is spreading from teenagers to middle-aged and older people. Popular music critic Kim Young-dae said, “DAY6 is a rare band that satisfies K-pop fans, the general public, and critics,” and popular music critic Kim Yoon-ha said of them, “It is truly an outstanding talent to consistently make good songs.”

DAY6 is also the most popular band these days among aspiring band members. Due to DAY6’s popularity, the number of teenagers learning musical instruments has increased significantly, and DAY6’s songs are often used in musical instrument schools. Videos of copying DAY6’s songs are continuously being uploaded on YouTube. An official from Lala Music Academy in Nowon-gu, Seoul said, “Many of our students belong to school bands, and the bands often play DAY6’s songs,” and “Instructors at the academy also use a lot of DAY6’s songs as reference material in their classes.”

Following their headliner performance at the Grand Mint Festival this month, DAY6 will perform at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul in December. This will be the first time for a domestic band. DAY6 is rewriting the history of Korean pop music bands.
