― You are taking your first step as a solo artist with your first full-length album, '30'. How do you feel about releasing an album filled with your own voice?

"First, I would like to thank our My Day (fandom name: My Day) for waiting for a long time. I am happy that we have finally become a team where all members have released solo songs."

― Is there a special reason why you organized the entire album based on the age of 30? Also, is there a meaning contained in this album and a message you wanted to convey through your first solo album?

"I started working on songs because I wanted to convey my thoughts from various experiences through songs. When I finished all the songs, I was thirty years old, and I named and produced the album to match that point. My first solo album, '30,' is an album that talks about universal emotions and situations that everyone has experienced or has experienced at least once in their lives. I put my heart into it in the hope that it can provide some comfort to those who listen to these stories."

― Compared to your 20s, what is the biggest difference between now that you’re in your 30s and now? Also, what do you see yourself in your 30s and after, and what is your future musically?

"When I was in my 20s, I vaguely thought that things would be much easier and better when I turned 30, so I did my best every day. I think I was more focused on the future that would come someday than the present. From the time I turned 30, I learned how to accept myself by focusing on the present and spending time reflecting on myself. As I incorporated the self-care methods I learned in that process into my daily life, I think my attitude toward life has definitely become more relaxed. Even if I go through hardships in my 30s, I think I will be much more stable than I am now because I will know how to not wander for as long as before. Since music will also be naturally created from life experiences, I expect that the areas I can deal with will expand much more than now and gain more depth."

― As your first solo album is packed with a total of 10 full-length album tracks, you are expected to show off your musical colors even more clearly. What was the reason for releasing your first solo album since your debut as a full-length album, and what do you think is the biggest appeal of being a ‘solo artist’?

"I focused entirely on the message I wanted to convey through music, without being overly concerned about the number of songs included or the format of the album. I thought that each song I worked on had its own unique story and could convey a different message, so I put them all on one album. There's a lot of responsibility that comes with making an album from start to finish, but I think the biggest appeal of being a solo artist is that I have the freedom to reflect and choose my opinions."

― You worked with producing group MonoTree’s Lee Joo-hyung and singer-songwriter Jeokjae on the title track “Check Pattern.” Thinking back to the emotions the three of you have conveyed through your music, I think it would go well with the lonely yet warm winter season. Could you tell us about the collaboration process and some of the points to appreciate about the title track?

"Lee Joo-hyung and Jae-jae also worked together to create the title song. As we worked together and added ideas, the song's perfection level increased, and it was an opportunity for me to learn more in many ways. I think the point of appreciation is up to the listeners. If I were to talk about my personal impressions as a listener, I think I thought of an everyday winter image that contains subtle excitement and warmth."

― Following Young K, Dowoon, and Wonpil, you will be the finale to debut solo songs within the team. Did the three members who released solo songs first give you any advice, and what were the reactions of the DAY6 members who heard this album for the first time?

"The members told me not to feel burdened and to do whatever I wanted to do. Wonpil, who listened to it first, said he liked 'Check Pattern', and Young K said he liked 'Like a Child in a Fairy Tale' and 'I Don't Wanna Lose'."
