And just as they had dreamed and longed for, they completed the pages of beautiful youth. This is the story of DAY6, a band in their 10th year since debut.

2024 was a year that was engraved like a bookmark in Day6's filmography. Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon, who put an end to their group activities on November 27th last year, have been in the spotlight since the end of 2022 based on the success of "Be A Page" and "You Were Pretty," which have climbed up various charts.

They didn't stop at just reverse driving. They rose as a key player in the band boom by dominating the charts with the title song "Welcome to the Show" and the track "HAPPY" from their 8th mini album "Fourever" released in March of this year.

▲ 1st place again, Day6 digging into the public's algorithm

Summarizing it into the five letters 'career high', DAY6's 2024 was a brilliant and memorable year. With the title song 'Melting' from their 9th mini-album 'Band Aid' released in September, they swept the top spot on all domestic music charts, including Melon, for the first time since their debut, and also topped the daily, weekly, and monthly charts simultaneously. After 'Melting' and the reverse run of 'HAPPY', they took first place on the monthly chart as well.

The awards were also abundant. Starting with the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award at the '2024 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards' on October 31st, DAY6 received their first government award since their debut. Next, they won the grand prize at their first music awards ceremony at the 'KGMA' (Korea Grand Music Awards) on November 17th, the TOP 10 award given to the 10 teams that shined this year at the 'MMA2024' (Melon Music Awards) on November 30th, and the MILLIONS TOP 10 award given to artists who have entered Melon's Hall of Fame Billions Club (cumulative streaming of 1 billion or more).

The perceived popularity was also considerable. DAY6's music was frequently heard in various sports games such as baseball stadiums, basketball stadiums, volleyball stadiums, and soccer stadiums, as well as during the Paris Olympics broadcasts. The youth who sympathized with DAY6's unique universal emotions continued to sing along in unison at the KBO All-Star Game Cleaning Time performance, nearly 10 university festivals, and major festivals where they performed as headliners. The lyrics of "HAPPY" that say "The algorithm only shows countless successful people" have finally become DAY6's reality.

For Day6, this year has also been a year of endless theme exploration. With only three solo concerts, they sold out all their tickets as soon as they went on sale, and they have garnered affectionate requests to be given a large concert hall that matches their theme of being a "representative K-pop band" and their explosive popularity.

▲ "We'll make it the game of your life" Counter Band of Reversal

Opportunity comes to everyone, but being able to take advantage of it and make it your own is a completely different matter. As Young K said, Day6 may have been a slow starter, but they have been training their stamina diligently and have been tying their shoelaces that used to come undone regardless of their will. Thanks to the turning point of the Armed Forces Day special episode of KBS 2TV's 'Immortal Songs' in 2022, Day6 has been rowing tirelessly after their discharge.

The 'military service band' DAY6 has filled the annual calendar with days for My Day (official fandom name), with a schedule that is difficult to list in detail. The sight of them playing their hearts out and singing at the top of their lungs for the fans who chose DAY6 out of countless other options, and the sight of them sparing no effort to inform anyone who would call them that the team DAY6 had returned by running to them even if it meant splitting up every blank space on their calendar, was just as passionate as their rookie days when they would personally hand out candy on the streets of Hongdae and promote small theater concerts.

Above all, Day6 was sincere about their music. In March of this year, just four months after Wonpil’s discharge from the military, Day6 released their 8th mini-album with 7 songs, and in just six months, they filled their 9th mini-album with 8 new songs, making their confession that they had run out of their own songs pale in comparison. They say that even mountains and rivers change in 10 years, but Day6, now in their 10th year, is still far from a comeback, meaning that they are content with a few hit songs or a stroke of luck.

The fact that they are still holding onto the top spots on the charts with multiple songs even at the end of the year is a valuable achievement considering the reality of the music industry where new songs are often not widely known or are quickly forgotten. For the members who have been hoping for a long-term battle with 'ageless music', that is, music that does not go with the times, since the band was formed, this is a great windfall. At this point, having fully kept their promise before enlistment to return in a better form as the seasons pass, DAY6's hope of ending their lives singing for My Day for an eternity does not sound like an empty dream.

Below is the full Q&A with Day6.

Q Starting with the No. 1 spot on the music charts, a successful world tour, winning their first Daesang, and entering the Gocheok Sky Dome, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that DAY6's 2024 was a year where everything they said came true. Please tell us how you feel about these 'unprecedented' achievements that you've achieved by pouring your heart and soul into them.

▲ Sungjin_ DAY6 will just do the best we can, as we have always done. I want to thank our My Days for creating such great results, and I appreciate the interest and love from many people.

▲ Young K_ I think it was a really dreamlike year. It was a year filled with laughter and tears of emotion. I felt proud, but also overflowing with gratitude toward My Day, the members, and everyone around me who made this possible. And I think I'm looking forward to the days ahead.

▲ Wonpil_ First of all, I want to say thank you to our My Day. You are the ones who waited for DAY6's comeback more than anyone else. It is thanks to My Day that we were able to achieve these results this year. And I would like to sincerely thank PD Park Jin-young, the JYP Entertainment and STUDIO J family, Ji Sang-yi (producer Hong Ji-sang of JYP Publishing), and all the staff who work hard for DAY6.

▲ Dowoon_ Our DAY6 members and My Day have worked so hard, and I'm also grateful to those who have shown us so much love. I will continue to support you well in my position.

Q As you said in the web variety show '조목밤' last March, 'Crossing the Stone Bridge', DAY6's status has changed significantly since the end of 'Yeobakgi'. I wonder if the scenery you see after crossing the river is similar to what you imagined, and if you are satisfied. I think the direction of 'music that doesn't age' hasn't changed, but after receiving so much interest and love from so many people, is there anything that you have reflected on or promised to yourself or the members, other than the one thing leader Sungjin said, 'Let's live with gratitude'?

▲ Sungjin_ I had hoped that it would come true someday, but for now, I think I am receiving more than I deserve. I don't think the current situation will have a big impact on 'DAY6's music' itself. I think my desire to create and express better music has grown. I want to take care of the small details that I used to overlook.

▲ Young K_ I think the determination to make good music with ageless music is unchanging. It feels like we're still crossing the river, considering the scenery we've seen across it. It's not that I'm not satisfied yet, it's just that there are more stone bridges to cross. However, as I keep crossing, I feel like I'm getting more used to it, and I feel like I can cross it with a lighter step and a smile.

▲ Wonpil_ I think it's the same. I want to continue to work hard like I have been doing so far. I don't want to rest on my laurels, and I want to continue to reward you with good music in the future.

▲ Do-woon_ As I always say, I will continue to live like I am doing now! No more, no less, I will live happily while learning and making music.

Q This year, you’ve expanded the scale of your solo concerts from indoor stadiums to Inspire Arena and Gocheok Sky Dome. For the members, it must have meant more than just the numerical achievements, such as increased audience numbers, breaking their own records, and being the first K-pop band to enter. Can we expect to enter even larger venues in the future?

▲ Sungjin_ I don't really focus much on numerical results, but I do feel a little bit of comfort that the path we're taking isn't bad. I plan to work on improving the quality of the performances rather than the size of the venue.

▲ Young K_ You can look forward to it. We are grateful and have experienced that more people want to come to DAY6 concerts, so we are planning to invite more people. I hope you will continue to look forward to it and show us love.

▲ Wonpil_ The first thing I always feel on stage is 'gratitude'. It's not easy for people to come to our concert hall after listening to our music. I want to repay you with great performances in the future.

▲ Do-woon_ It's already too much, but I will try my best to digest what is given to me right now.

Q It must be meaningful to celebrate your 10th debut anniversary at a time when there are so many people discovering DAY6. I’m curious about what kind of activities you have planned for 2025 and what kind of pages you want to write together with your fans.

▲ Sungjin_ Just like any other time, I think a year has passed by before I open my eyes. I have a lot of activities planned, so I think you can look forward to them. I hope 2025 will be a healthier and happier year for me.

▲ Young K_ It may sound obvious, but we are preparing for performances. And we are discussing how we can celebrate the 10th anniversary happily together with My Day and the members, and we are also writing songs.

▲ Wonpil_ 2025 is DAY6's 10th anniversary. There are things we're looking forward to, and I hope My Day members look forward to it too.

▲ Dowoon_ I would like to create a song someday with MyDay and DAY6.

Congratulations on your 10th anniversary
