Yulhee, a former member of girl group Laboum, has filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband, FT Island drummer Choi Min-hwan, for child custody, alimony, and division of property.
According to the legal community on the 5th, Yulhee filed a request for mediation for a change in custody and a claim for alimony and division of property at the Seoul Family Court the day before. Yulhee claims, "There was no discussion about alimony or division of property during the divorce agreement with Choi Min-hwan last year." Yulhee's position is that even if the divorce agreement is complete, a claim for division of property can be made within 2 years from the date of divorce, and alimony can be claimed within 3 years.
Min-hwan Choi and Yulhee's relationship was revealed in 2017. They had a son in May of the following year and got married in October of the same year. They had twin daughters in February 2020. However, they went through a divorce last year after five years of marriage, and Min-hwan Choi took custody of the children. The specific reason for their divorce was not disclosed at the time.
However, Choi Min-hwan's private life came into the spotlight when Yulhee revealed in a video posted on her YouTube channel on the 24th of last month that "Choi Min-hwan visited adult entertainment establishments during their marriage." Yulhee also claimed that "Choi Min-hwan touched my private parts in front of my in-laws and acted inappropriately, and that such behavior originated from the adult entertainment establishments they visited during their marriage."
Accordingly, online spaces were flooded with criticism that "it is not appropriate for Choi Min-hwan to appear with his children on KBS 2TV's parenting variety show 'The Return of Superman'," and eventually Choi Min-hwan announced through his agency that he would be suspending his activities.
