Genie TV's new original drama "Idol I" to premiere in the second half of the year.
[The Fact | Reporter Kim Saet-byeol] Actors Choi Soo-young and Kim Jae-young meet as a lawyer and the visual center of a band.
The production team of Genie TV's original drama 'Idol Eye' (written by Kim Da-rin, directed by Lee Kwang-young) revealed the casting lineup of Choi Soo-young and Kim Jae-young on the 7th and said, "It is scheduled to air in the second half of the year."
'Idol I' is a mystery courtroom romance that unfolds as star lawyer Maeng Na (played by Choi Soo-young) takes on the case of her 'favorite' Do Ra-ik (played by Kim Jae-young), who is accused of murder.
Director Lee Kwang-young, who has demonstrated delicate and sensuous directing through dramas such as 'Say It's Love', is in charge of the megaphone, and writer Kim Da-rin, known for her fresh writing skills, is in charge of the writing.
Choi Soo-young plays the star lawyer Maeom-na, who must prove the innocence of her "favorite" Dora-ik. With a hidden wound, she is criticized by the world and only takes on criminal cases that others avoid, earning her the nickname "the villains' lawyer."
The twist in that oath is that she's a pure gold, a 10-year veteran fan of the band Goldboyz. She hides her fandom and appears to defend Doraik, who's involved in a bizarre murder case, and faces an unexpected truth.
Choi Soo-young said, "I read the script all the way through when I first received it, probably because I've been exposed to the hearts of fans," and added, "This is my first time playing both a lawyer and a fanboy. The on and off parts of the character are fun. I'm excited to show a new side of myself. I'll do my best to create a great piece."
Kim Jae-young transforms into Doraik, the visual center and vocalist of Goldboyz, who becomes a murder suspect. From the moment when the stage he once longed for no longer brings him joy, and the cheers and love of his fans feel like a heavy debt rather than joy, he lives with a bright smile, hiding a dark side. Then, when the disaster of a "murder" strikes, he sheds his mask and is reborn as a man who lives without a future.
Kim Jae-young said, "I'm honored to be appearing on 'Idol Eye'. It's a drama with such interesting material and various genres, so I'm looking forward to it. I feel pressured, but I'm also happy to be able to participate in this way." He added, "I've been cast as the band vocalist Doraik, and I'm so excited because it's a character with so much to show."
'Idol Eye', which will showcase the chemistry between Choi Soo-young and Kim Jae-young, will be first broadcast on Channel ENA in the second half of 2025 and will later be released on Genie TV.
