It has been pointed out that information on Korean accounts illegally distributed in China is being used to trade tickets for domestic performances and games. It appears that these accounts were used to simultaneously connect 500,000 people to performances that are the main targets of ticket trading for singer Lim Young-woong, and it has been pointed out that Chinese people are making illegal profits through illegal ticket trading.

On the 10th, Rep. Lee Hoon-ki (Democratic Party of Korea), a member of the Science, Technology, Information, Broadcasting and Communications Committee of the National Assembly, raised an issue during the audit of the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), saying, “Chinese ticket scalpers are illegally trading Korean authentication accounts for 450-650 yuan (90,000-120,000 won) and then accessing domestic ticket reservation sites in China to purchase tickets.” Ticket reservation sites such as Interpark Ticket have exposed security vulnerabilities that allow for manipulation of the process of registering as a Korean from overseas, and there is criticism that authorities have also been lax in monitoring this.

The lawmaker criticized, “The Korea Internet & Security Agency was not even aware of this situation until we requested the relevant data in August,” and “The Korea Internet & Security Agency distributed a self-inspection checklist and guide to sites that require identity verification, such as reservation sites, but only 21.8% of all organizations responded, making it ineffective.”

Domestic ticket reservation sites process payments separately for domestic and foreign nationals to prevent fraudulent reservations, but there is criticism that because the identity verification process does not work properly, overseas Chinese can sign up as domestic nationals.
