[talk] "Byeon Woo-seok is okay, but Im Young-woong is not?"… Controversy over 'Celebrity Jeon Yong-moon's special treatment
Following the controversy over actor Byun Woo-seok's excessive security, Incheon International Airport has taken the measure of requiring celebrities and other famous people to use separate entrances when leaving the country starting on the 28th. Criticism poured out during the state audit, saying that this was "a special privilege."
During the comprehensive audit conducted by the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee on the 24th targeting the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, questions were raised about the Incheon Airport celebrity-only entrance.
On this day, Democratic Party lawmaker Jeon Yong-gi criticized, "As soon as the inspection of Incheon Airport was over, they sent an official document to entertainment agencies, telling them to use the entrance exclusively for celebrities, as if they had been waiting for the construction. When I asked them to come up with a solution to the controversy over the relative deprivation and preferential treatment of the people, and the hierarchy and class structure among celebrities, they approached us with preferential treatment."
In response, Lee Hak-jae, president of Incheon International Airport Corporation, explained, "Last year, during the National Assembly audit, Rep. Kwon Young-se of the People Power Party pointed out that celebrities should be allowed to use dedicated entrances when using the airport, as congestion can occur in crowded situations." He added, "We had been preparing for this even before the Byun Woo-seok incident, but we were unable to implement it in advance."
Then, former lawmaker Jeon added, "If you look at where the official document was sent, small agencies aren't even included," and "It wasn't sent to 'Fish Music,' which Lim Young-woong belongs to. Does that mean Byun Woo-seok is allowed, but Lim Young-woong isn't? I don't know how they came up with this standard, but sending the official document right after the inspection was over is making a mockery of the National Assembly."
The CEO explained, "We do not arbitrarily decide whether or not a particular celebrity can enter. We only review cases where the celebrity's agency requests security from the police. Only celebrities who have reported in advance that they need security guards can apply."
The construction company announced the previous day that it had sent an official letter to entertainment agencies requesting cooperation in complying with the procedures for using the Incheon Airport exclusive entrance when artists depart the country. However, the construction company explained that it is not creating a new exclusive entrance for celebrities, but rather allowing celebrities to use the exclusive entrance that flight attendants and pilots used to use.
