[All] ‘Lim Young-woong Concert Smishing’ Spreads, Beware of ‘Hero Era’
Singer Lim Young-woong's year-end concert has been on the netizens' lips even before ticket sales opened. Since the audience is mostly middle-aged and older, there have been many cases of difficulties from the ticket reservation stage, and it is expected that controversy will arise as 'smishing text messages' that take advantage of this spread.
According to online communities, social networking services (SNS), and Lim Young-woong's fan cafe on the 15th, a text message titled 'Lim Young-woong Concert Pre-order Guide' was recently sent to some fans.
The message, which begins with “Invitation to Lim Young-woong’s 2024 Recital Year-End Concert,” includes a Naver TalkTalk link where you can inquire about “advance reservations,” along with information on the performance venue, date, and seat description. It has been confirmed that this is not a text message distributed by the official ticket sales office.
As of 11 AM on this day, if you access the link in the text message shared by fans, a message saying 'Partner has been discontinued' will appear. It appears that reports have been made.
Before the report, fans explained that they had been given a first-come, first-served pre-order consultation when they accessed the link. It was also found that they had been inducing purchases by providing the website address with Lim Young-woong's performance video at the top.
Although some links have been reported, fans are concerned that messages containing altered links are continuously being confirmed, and are sharing text messages they have received on fan cafes and other platforms to urge caution.
Lim Young-woong's fan cafe also posted a notice titled 'Notice on voice phishing and fraud related to concert tickets' on the 14th, informing people about the recent spread of smishing damage.
On the 14th, the fan cafe management announced in a notice titled “Notice on voice phishing and fraud related to concert tickets” that “Concert ticket pre-order text messages have been sent out recently.” They continued, “The text messages in question were not sent by the concert organizers. Please be especially careful not to click on the links attached to the text messages, as doing so will expose you to voice phishing scams.” They also emphasized, “Concert ticket reservations are only possible on Interpark Ticket starting at 8 PM on November 20th. There are no other pre-orders or other ticket reservation methods.”
Lim Young-woong's concert was previously mentioned by netizens as a 'scam ticket trading scam'. Not only was the price of tickets on the black market skyrocketing to over 30 times the regular price ahead of the concert a problem, but there was also controversy over the discovery of many scams where fans were lured in by the promise of selling tickets on the black market and only made money.
In January, Mr. A, a man in his 30s, was sentenced to six years in prison for fraud, including receiving about 200 million won by selling tickets to Lim Young-woong's concert.
After rising to stardom after winning TV Chosun's 'Mr. Trot', Lim Young-woong's concerts are selling out in all regions and all time slots. He has announced a 'RE:CITAL' performance at Gocheok Sky Dome from December 27 to 29 and from January 2 to 4 next year, and a ticket war is expected for this performance as well.
I really need to be careful with links
