[Sports Seoul | Reporter Seungrok Lee] Singer IU's new song 'Bye, Summer' is receiving a hot response, even though it was a surprise release, and is rising to the top of music charts.
IU made a surprise release of her digital single "Bye, Summer" through various music streaming sites at 7 a.m. on the 10th. Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, explained, "We released it at this unusually early hour, hoping that it would be a special gift to fans as summer draws to a close and the cool breeze begins to blow." The release was made without prior notice or any special promotion.
Nonetheless, "Bye, Summer" quickly entered the charts of major music platforms such as Melon, Bugs, and Genie, and is currently maintaining its top ranks. It reached the top of Melon HOT100, Bugs Real-Time Chart, and Vibe's Domestic Rising Chart.
Online communities and social media also received favorable reviews, with comments like, "This is perfect for the weather these days," "The song is so good," and "I've been waiting for the song to be released, and it's so good." Posts related to the release of "Bye, Summer" became a hot topic, appearing on popular community bulletin boards.

'Bye, Summer' is a hot topic song that was first revealed on stage at the '2024 IU HEREH WORLD TOUR CONCERT ENCORE: THE WINNING' held at Seoul World Cup Stadium in September last year, and fans have been requesting an official release.
IU wrote and composed the song herself, and composer Seo Dong-hwan, who also collaborated on "Love Wins All," also participated in the composition. IU's signature lyrical vocals, a simple yet beautiful melody, and a refreshing band sound combine to create a song that approaches like a cool breeze blowing at the end of summer.
IU's new song 'Bye, Summer' can be enjoyed through various music sites and the official YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, IU will be holding a fan meetup titled "2025 IU FAN MEET-UP - Bye, Summer" at KSPO DOME on the 13th and 14th. IU's pop-up store "Found at Eight" is currently open at Epic Seoul on the 5th floor of The Hyundai Seoul and will run until the 21st. roku@sportsseoul.com
