[All] "Is the IU concert cancellation fee ready?" Pressure from Seoul City: "Proceeding as normal"

Amid the controversy over the damage to the grass at Seoul World Cup Stadium, a clash broke out between soccer fans and fans of singer IU, and a petition was filed to pressure the city of Seoul to prepare a penalty. The city of Seoul stepped in to quell the incident, saying that the concert would be held normally.

Mr. Park stated in a complaint filed on the 12th with the Seoul Facilities Corporation, which operates Seoul World Cup Stadium, "I understand that a complaint was recently filed by someone claiming to be a 'fan of soccer player Son Heung-min', demanding the cancellation of an upcoming concert at Sangam Stadium."

He said that the city of Seoul is making a lot of money by hosting large-scale concerts.

Park said, "This is a concert by so-called 'big-name singers' who are rare in Korea and can sell out Sangam Stadium, where national team matches have failed several times," and "It's the result of formally requesting performance permits, months of discussions and negotiations about the performance plan, PT, and related facilities, and a contract in which the Seoul Facilities Corporation takes a juicy 15-30% of the ticket sales worth hundreds of billions of won for the performances."

Park also pointed out that if there is a problem with IU's concert scheduled for the 21st and 22nd, the financial damage will be enormous. He asked, "If it is absurdly canceled, will the 107,000 out-of-town audience members who will gather at the World Cup Stadium be fully compensated for the accommodations they reserved months in advance according to the concert schedule that was announced at the beginning of the year, and the airfare for the foreign audience members who will flock from overseas?"

Mr. Park further asked, "Is there a corresponding penalty prepared for the concert organizers who will suffer enormous damages that cannot even recover the production costs of the concert, such as the refund of hundreds of billions of won in ticket prices that have already been sold?"

Accordingly, the Seoul Facilities Corporation Seoul World Cup Stadium Management Office announced that IU's concert will proceed as scheduled.

In a response to the complaint released on the 19th, the management said, "Cancellation of a performance permit must be strictly applied and judged based on relevant laws and conditions," and "We would like to inform you that the performance you mentioned will proceed as normal."

Earlier, the Seoul Metropolitan Government also announced in a press release on the 14th, "The IU concert scheduled to be held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on the 21st and 22nd has already sold out all tickets (approximately 100,000 tickets), so if it is hastily canceled, it will cause losses to the event organizers and inconvenience to citizens and tourists who want to enjoy the concert, so it is planned to be held as scheduled."

They really do file all sorts of complaints.
