In May 2023, IU was sued by Mr. A for copyright infringement with six songs, including "Good Day," "Pink Shoes," "BBIBBI," and "Celebrity." IU only participated in the composition of "Celebrity" out of the six songs, and produced "BBIBBI," so it was effectively a slanderous claim. After the police investigated and decided to dismiss Mr. A's complaint in August 2023, IU immediately filed a lawsuit for damages against Mr. A in September 2023, taking legal action.

However, not only did Mr. A not attend the first hearing in July, but he also has not appointed a legal representative since the lawsuit was filed, and has consistently remained unresponsive. While it is known that he is staying in the United States, IU's attorney requested, "Although the trial is proceeding through public notice, please specify Mr. A a little more and set a date later for the sake of the lawsuit." Public notice is a system in which documents are kept in the court when the parties' addresses are unknown or delivery is impossible, and the reason is posted on a bulletin board, so that the content is considered to have been delivered to the parties.

The court accepted IU's request to proceed with the trial proceedings against Mr. A in the United States, and added that if the proceedings proceed, they should apply to set a date for the civil trial. However, even with the sentencing scheduled for the 18th, the whereabouts of Mr. A were not confirmed, and the court concluded the argument by stating, "We can only make a judgment based on the claims and evidence submitted by the plaintiff."

In September 2023, IU filed a lawsuit for damages of approximately 30 million won without being able to obtain Mr. A's personal information, and tried to obtain Mr. A's personal information from investigative authorities through the court.

However, neither IU nor the court handed down the sentence without being able to find out the whereabouts of the parties involved.
