82MAJOR's music stems from confidence. The rookie's spirit, which began with the declaration "I can't feel fear" on their debut album "ON," was soon proven with a bold stage presence on hip-hop-based tracks like "Stuck."
And recently, their musical journey has deepened. Since last year, they have begun collaborating with external artists in a relay format, presenting collaborative projects. For a rookie group in their third year, this unprecedented collaboration project is significant in that it confidently showcases each member's musical talent. This project itself is a testament to their confidence in each member. Hwang Sung-bin initiated the project, followed by Kim Do-gyun. Recently, Nam Sung-mo has taken up the baton. The sensibility and genre diversity they present clearly reveal the individual talents and voices that were previously hidden behind the group name.
The project's first runner is Hwang Sung-bin. Hwang Sung-bin's "Naughty" (2024.12.02) boldly and clearly reveals the team's identity as a "hip-hop group." Completed in collaboration with hip-hop producer Hucky Shiva, the track features a hyper-pop texture layered over a sound dominated by rippling synthesizers and a heavy bass, creating an experimental ending. Hwang Sung-bin, in particular, single-handedly wrote the lyrics, fully capturing his own perspective. With his powerful raps, he clearly demonstrates his capabilities as a skilled rapper.
Kim Do-gyun's "Letter" (2025.01.24), the second track, has a completely different vibe. Collaborating with renowned Japanese producer Juvenile, this emotional ballad features a lyrical melody and restrained arrangement. Beginning with lyrical guitar lines and drums, the track imbues the song with a gentle winter air, while the streamlined sound composition highlights Kim Do-gyun's powerful vocals. Kim Do-gyun and Hwang Seong-bin personally contributed to the lyrics, infusing them with even more sincerity. Kim Do-gyun's voice, which alternates between singing and rapping, traces the delicate emotional texture, clearly revealing his sincerity as a vocalist.
The third runner-up is Nam Sung-mo. He recently showcased a different musical style from the other members with "Pinterest Luv" (2025.08.29), a collaboration with singer-songwriter Moon Soo-jin. "Pinterest Luv" is a love song with a dreamy atmosphere in the hip-hop R&B genre. Nam Sung-mo and Moon Soo-jin collaborated on the melody and lyrics. The R&B-based sound is rhythmic yet smooth, and the dreamy production and Nam Sung-mo's vocals complete the sensual mood. Nam Sung-mo, in particular, directly participated in song selection and concept development, further highlighting his artistic capabilities as a creative entity.
