Dong-hwan, along with documentary producer Kim Soo-jin, investigates the truth surrounding his mother's death. However, the testimonies of those around him are conflicting. Some say, "It had a monster-like face," while others deny it, saying, "I've never even seen it."

 

In the process, we learn that the Cheonggyecheon garment factory and its president, Baek Ju-sang, are at the center of the incident, and the truth about the past begins to emerge one by one. Dong-hwan is finally forced to confront a secret that even his father has kept hidden, and the story reaches an unexpected conclusion.

At the end, son Im Dong-hwan asks his father, Im Yeong-gyu, about his mother's death. Im Yeong-gyu reveals that in his youth, he had formed a family with Jeong Yeong-hee, who treated him warmly. However, amidst the ridicule and stares of those around him, he began to distort her appearance, viewing her as a monster.

When Jeong Yeong-hee attempted to expose the misdeeds of Baek Ju-sang, the president of the Cheonggyecheon garment factory, Im Yeong-gyu, driven by self-esteem and social pressure, murdered his wife. Baek Ju-sang's subordinates, who witnessed this, concealed the body, fearing false accusations, and the case remained unsolved for a long time.
