[OSEN=Reporter Choi Yi-jeong] The Kingdom, who are releasing a special album today, conveyed their sincere feelings to their fans.
The group The KingDom (Dan, Arthur, Mujin, Louis, Ivan, Jahan) will begin their full-fledged comeback activities by releasing their special album 'The KingDom: the flower of the moon' through various online music sites at 6 PM today (the 23rd).
Having successfully showcased the worldview of the 7-part series 'History of Kingdom' and earned the nickname 'cinematic idol', they express their gratitude to their fans through this album and take their first step as a 5-member group.
Below is the full Q&A with The Kingdom.
Q. How do you feel about making a comeback with a special album?
A. I'm really nervous because it's been so long since our comeback. It feels like a debut, to exaggerate a bit. I'm so happy and excited to be able to make a comeback with "Hwawolga," which so many Kingmakers (fandom name) have been waiting for.
Q. What kind of album is 'The KingDom: the flower of the moon'?
A. This album is filled with the beauty and emotion of Korea. It's filled with the title track "Hwawolga," along with tracks like "Festival" and "Forget." We prepared this album with the hope that it will be a gift to those who have waited so long.
Q. The leader enlisted in the military earlier than scheduled, so you had to prepare the album as a five-member group. Were there any difficulties?
A. Since the decision was made a week before the music video shoot, we had to frantically revise and rehearse, preparing from scratch. However, since it was an album that we had put a lot of love into and spent a long time preparing, we had fun practicing, so there weren't any major difficulties afterwards.
Q. If you could say something to Dan who is currently serving in the military?
A. While you're gone, we'll pave a wonderful path for you. Stay healthy and don't get hurt, and let's come back and stand on the same stage together. I love you♡
Q. What kind of song is the title song 'Hwawolga'?
A. When I first heard "Hwawolga," I was amazed that the song was created using Miryang Arirang. I was amazed that the Arirang I'd heard as a child could be reborn like this, and the harmony between the choreography and the song was so beautiful that I couldn't wait to share it with you.
Q. Is there a special reason for incorporating elements of Korean traditional music into ‘Hwawolga’?
A. This song was actually created in response to a request from Arirang TV for a special stage featuring Arirang. Many fans have also loved our signature song, "Ascension," and we hope the stages and stories we want to express will continue in this manner, so we brought it to this comeback.
Q. The Kingdom is a group known for their dazzling performances. What aspects of "Hwawolga" would you like people to focus on?
A. The focal point of "Hwawolga" is the fans. We were contemplating how we could showcase a different charm on a stage brimming with Korean color, and that's how we came up with the idea of using fans. We plan to use fans to symbolize the moon and perform various fan dances, so please be sure to check out the performance. I'm confident that you'll truly appreciate this beauty only when you watch it with the full camera.
Q. It is said that the members wrote the lyrics for the track 'Forget' themselves. What kind of story does it tell?
A. I worked on this song last winter. It was initially intended as a fan song, but also as a message I wanted to share with our members. I started with the message, "Without you, what power or purpose would the music I make have?" Later, I thought it would be nice to include more of our story, so I added some honest stories from the members, and that's how I ended up with the song it is today.
Q. What image does The Kingdom want to show through this comeback?
A. I hope the music we're making becomes more concrete. I hope this activity will clarify the stage that The Kingdom excels at, the music that only we can express. I'll work hard to make that happen.
Q. Please say a word to Kingmaker (fandom name).
A. As the lyrics say, "Love is like a thorn to me," I believe this comeback must have been a thorny time for Kingmakers, who have waited for us for so long. We will work even harder and work harder to repay that wait. I hope every moment we spend with you through this promotion is filled with happiness. Thank you for always supporting us. We love you, Kingmakers!
