(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Kyung-yoon = Eight members who will debut as idols were selected through Mnet's survival entertainment program 'Boyz 2 Planet'.

On the 26th, Mnet announced that the new boy group 'ALD1' (Alpha Drive One) will consist of 8 members: Lee Sang-won, Zhou Anxin, Heo Shin-rong, Kim Gun-woo, Zhang Zihao, Lee Rio, Jeong Sang-hyun, and Kim Jun-seo.

They were selected through votes from global viewers in 223 countries, and debuted after beating out 160 contestants with odds of 20 to 1.

A total of 26,569,300 votes were cast in the final global vote to determine the debut group, and the online video service (OTT) Tving recorded a real-time peak share of over 95%.

It also maintained the top spot for nine consecutive weeks in the TV-OTT non-drama category topicality survey compiled by Good Data Corporation Fundex, a topicality research firm.

'Boyz 2 Planet' is a K-pop idol survival program targeting the global market.

In Season 1, Zero Base One was born, and this time, they gathered 80 Korean-speaking participants and 80 Chinese-speaking participants, and produced Korean and Chinese versions of the program simultaneously, which garnered much attention.
