[All] Miyao's Comeback D-Day [Q&A]

Miyao's Comeback D-Day [Q&A]

[Star News | Reporter Seunghoon Lee] MEOVV has announced a comeback hotter than ever.

Group MEOVV will be releasing their digital single "BURNING UP" today (the 14th) at 6 PM and will begin promotions. MEOVV, who has been expanding their musical spectrum with performances that are beyond rookie level, solid live skills, and overwhelming concept digestibility, shared various stories related to their new song "BURNING UP" through a Q&A ahead of their comeback.

Below is a Q&A about MEOVV's new digital single 'BURNING UP'.

Q. You've returned after about 5 months since your first EP 'MY EYES OPEN VVIDE' in May. How do you feel about your comeback?

Suin: Many people loved our first EP. We practiced really hard and took on new challenges to quickly return to the fold, as we received so much love. I think our fans will love this album just as much, so I'm looking forward to our future promotions with "BURNING UP."

Anna: First of all, I'm so happy to be back after five months! And I'm also excited to show off another side of MEOVV's charm with this song.

Narin: Our hearts are burning and eager for this comeback more than ever. After wrapping up our last promotions, we spent the past five months reorganizing in every way and reaffirming our team's purpose and determination. Through "BURNING UP," which we prepared with all five of us sharing stories, tears, and laughter, we want to convey our sincerity to our fans and the public. We're truly happy and excited to be back on stage with great music, performances, and a stronger teamwork.

Q. How would you describe the title track "BURNING UP" in one word? I'm also curious about your first impressions of the song.

Gawon: It's the epitome of fiery energy. I first heard all the songs on our first EP when we were trainees, but this was the first song we encountered after our debut. Having already walked the path of MEOVV, listening to this song made me feel even more confident about it. All the members were immediately captivated, and we told them, "Let's do this song for our next promotion, no matter what."

Anna: Above all, it's the hottest song ever! It left a strong impression from the first time I heard it, and it embodies MEOVV's energy! I hope even those hearing it for the first time will feel the heat at this very moment.

Narin: In a word, it's "explosion." It's like all the passion and emotions are bursting out at once, and it's that hot and intense. From the moment I first heard "BURNING UP," I was relieved because it felt completely different from our previous songs, a new kind of song. I was also curious to see what kind of reaction MEOVV would get if they performed something they'd never done before with this song. I was excited to show a new side of themselves, and I was determined to really burn this time. There were difficult moments over the past year, but I poured all those emotions into this song. I prepared so earnestly, so I hope many people can feel that passion.

Q. Could you explain the key points to watch for in the title song 'BURNING UP' and its music video?

Suin: For "BURNING UP," the low notes at the beginning of the chorus are a highlight! In the music video, I think it'll be fun to watch MEOVV ignite every path they take, and then ultimately cool down their "hotness" with a torrential downpour. And please look forward to the performance, too!

Gawon: The explosive energy in the song and the members' individual personalities harmoniously combine to create a captivating scene. There's a fun element where MEOVV is so passionate that their surroundings heat up and catch fire. The storyline, where appliances and sprinklers appear to cool down the heat, is a fun point of interest.

Ella: The highlight of the music video is definitely the scene where we dance while getting splashed with water! It gives off a refreshing feeling and makes the video even more special.

Q. This time, Gawon and Nalin participated in writing the lyrics. What was your mindset and feeling when writing the lyrics? And do you have a "killing part" in mind?

Gawon: I think I was more passionate than ever when writing this song. Throughout the preparation process for our promotions, I was burning with passion, just like the title suggests, and that passion naturally translated into the lyrics. If I had to pick a killing part, it would be the line where we all chant together, "We'll go all the way, we gon' let that fire burn." I think it really captures MEOVV's unique energy, a mixture of intensity and earnestness.

Anna: I also like the "Let's go all the way~" part. I think it's a killing part because it's so powerful!

Narin: Just like the title, "BURNING UP," I tried to write directly and honestly. I think I constantly thought about that passionate energy as I wrote the lyrics. The killing part, in my opinion, is my rap part. The lyrics that start with "Ya, don't compare" are provocative yet confident, which I like. They're so honest, almost aggressive, that it feels like me and comfortable when I spit them out. "Ya, don't compare" is my favorite part.

Q. Is there any advice or feedback you received from producer TEDDY before and after your debut that you remember?

Suin: PD-nim always says, "Just do it! Take it easy! Have fun!"

Gawon: I'm a perfectionist, so ever since I was a trainee, I've always strived for the perfect performance. So even after my debut, there were times when I would be calculating rather than enjoying myself on stage. Then the producer told me, "You can smile more on stage." That really resonated with me. You have to enjoy yourself on stage for the audience to enjoy it, and I realized that if I can't convey that I'm having fun, I won't be able to share my energy. Since hearing that, I've been truly enjoying the stage.

Anna: Always tell them to try until they're satisfied. So we do it again and again until all five of us are satisfied!

Q. Lastly, is there anything you would like to say to your fans?

Suin: Pom Pom! (PAWMPAWM: Meow's official fandom name) We've been preparing really hard, so you can look forward to it. Please do well in this promotion too!

Gawon: Pom Pom! We sincerely thank you, Pom Pom, for always lighting our fire. We prepared this "BURNING UP" with a burning desire to repay Pom Pom's love. We'll definitely convey that feeling on stage. See you soon, Pom Pom! We've really missed you. Let's fly high and fast during this promotion!

Anna: Thanks to you all, I was able to return with "BURNING UP." There were some difficult moments while preparing, but I persevered, thinking of Pom Pom. Please stay with me until the very end!

Narin: We're back with a bang with "BURNING UP," so please enjoy it with us. Thank you for always making us stronger, and thanks to Pom Pom, we can enjoy our performances and promotions. We prepared "BURNING UP" with our fans in mind, which allowed us to grit our teeth and practice even harder to deliver the best performance possible. Please look forward to the future of MEOVV!

Ella: Thank you so much for always supporting us! Thanks to our fans' support, we gain so much strength and are so happy! Without you, we wouldn't be where we are today!
