Honestly, I think it's recommended for people who can speak Chinese to some extent. There are a lot of things to do in big cities and even more delicious restaurants, so it's good. Delivery is also really good! There are also a lot of Korean restaurants, so it's good to order Korean food. And if you like lamb skewers, you'll really like it because there are a lot of cheap, high-quality restaurants. The cost of living is expensive in big cities, but it's cheaper than in Korea. If you go to a small city, it's incomparably cheaper. Good, good... People are also very friendly. It's an atmosphere where you can ask people you don't know without hesitation.
The downside is... First of all, you need a visa and you have to use a VPN, which is really not good (If you travel, you can buy a USIM or ISIM in Korea and use it without a VPN). The biggest downside for non-smokers. People smoke sooooooooooooo much on the streets. Sometimes you can even see them smoking in restaurants...
Still, I recommend you go at least once! People who are good at eating mala-tang will probably have less of an aversion to Chinese food.
I'm not really sure about residency or immigration, but I highly recommend it for study abroad or travel purposes.
