A prison in Brazil is making headlines for introducing 'guard geese' instead of expensive 'guard dogs' and having a lot of fun doing it.

On the 6th, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that the Sao Pedro de Alcantara prison, located in southern Brazil on the border with Uruguay, is enjoying various benefits by introducing nine "goose agents" by replacing existing guard dogs with guard geese.

Guard geese also offered another advantage to Brazilian prisons. In the past, guard dogs could be bribed with steaks and other bribes, but guard geese are not loyal to their daily feeders and are often hostile.

“The geese hate all humans and have no loyalty whatsoever to those who feed them every day,” said the warden, adding that he even assigns inmates to feed the guard geese.

“Feeding the geese is the scariest thing,” one inmate serving a 20-year sentence for murder and robbery told the Journal. “When I went inside to fix a gate, all the guard geese came up to me and attacked me.”
