A giant Brazilian Jesus statue dressed in traditional Korean attire

The giant statue of Jesus in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was dressed in a beautiful blue hanbok on the 7th (local time).

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korean Cultural Center in Brazil, and Jinju City announced on the 9th that they held a 'projection mapping' event (a technology that projects images made of light onto the surface of an object to make it look different) in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Brazil and the city of Niterói, Brazil, to project images of hanbok onto Brazil's representative symbol, the Statue of Jesus. This is the first time that the Statue of Jesus has been dressed in traditional clothing symbolizing a country.

The event was organized to commemorate the successful hosting of the G20 Summit to be held in Rio de Janeiro on November 18-19 and the exhibition ‘Light of Korea - Pearl Silk Lanterns’ to be held at the Niterói Museum of Modern Art in Brazil from the 9th to the 25th of August.
