The Seoul Fencing Association has decided to expel former national fencing team member Nam Hyun-hee.
The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, who accepted the Sports Ethics Center's request for disciplinary action in March, requested the Seoul Fencing Association to review the disciplinary action, and on the 18th, the Fencing Association held a Sports Fair Trade Committee meeting to deliberate on disciplinary action against Mr. Nam.
Mr. Nam is being disciplined on charges of failing to report the sexual abuse of underage students by the head coach of the fencing academy he runs, and of defaming the victims by failing to stop his business partner, Jeon Cheong-jo, from making inappropriate comments about the victims to their parents.
