A Chinese couple who had to give up their baby after it was declared dead immediately after birth discovered that the baby was alive and well 30 years later. It turned out that the baby was raised by the infertile relative of the hospital director.

According to the South China Morning Post ( SCMP ) on the 25th, Zhang Huaiyuan (33 ), who grew up in a rural village in Anhui Province, eastern China, recently found out that he was adopted and that his biological parents were wealthy businessmen from Zhejiang Province, southeastern China.

According to the media, when Jang was born, doctors told Jang’s biological parents that “Jang was born prematurely and died.” However, this was a lie. Jang was handed over to the relative of the hospital director, who was unable to conceive.

Although he was a relative of the hospital director, his family circumstances were not easy. His adoptive father was disabled, so the family was poor, and Jang ended up having to drop out of school at the age of 17.

The truth about his origins was revealed after 30 years. In 2023, after his adoptive father passed away, his adoptive mother confessed the truth, and Jang learned that he had biological parents.

And finally, with the help of the police, in May of last year, Jang was able to meet his biological parents for the first time in 33 years.

Mr. Li Shijie , Zhang's biological father, gave Zhang a bankbook containing 1.2 million yuan (about 200 million won).

Jang was the second child in the Lee family. Lee said, “I became pregnant with my second child (Jang) when my first child was only one year old,” and explained, “My first child was born via cesarean section, but the wound had not fully healed. In the end, my wife had no choice but to give birth to the second child six months after her pregnancy.”

Doctors declared the baby dead immediately after birth, and Jang's parents appear to have not suspected this because the baby was born prematurely.

Recently, Lee visited her son’s home for the first time in 33 years and met his daughter-in-law and 9-year-old grandson. “My poor child has lived for over 30 years without knowing his own birthday. This year, our family will celebrate his real birthday,” Lee said.
