It has been reported that 'Shuttlecock Queen' Ahn Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance), who brought Korea the first Olympic badminton women's singles gold medal in 28 years, has been in charge of the national team's laundry and cleaning for the past seven years.
SBS reported on the 14th that Ahn Se-young's parents had asked the association to improve the national team's living conditions during a meeting held in February.
According to this, Ahn Se-young, who was first selected for the national team in 2017 when she was in her third year of middle school, has been in charge of odd jobs on the team for the past seven years. She has changed the strings on her seniors' rackets when they broke, cleaned their rooms, and even done some of their laundry.
An Se-young's side reportedly complained to the association, saying, "I have been suffering damage due to these miscellaneous tasks in a situation where I need to rest after work."
The Korea Badminton Association relayed the interview with Ahn Se-young to the national team. However, the national team coaching staff reportedly responded that they could not resolve the issue immediately and that they would gradually fix it.
----------------------------
I have been asking for these issues to be improved since February, but instead of improving them, they have ignored them.
In the meantime, Ahn Se-young, who trained silently, worked very hard.
Isn't it time to eradicate this old-fashioned culture?
