[All] Aillet, "New Jeans plagiarism" to be judged by law. '2 billion' lawsuit next year

Belief Lab, a label under Hive and the agency of Ailit, has filed a 2 billion won lawsuit against former Adore CEO Min Hee-jin.

On the 18th, the 12th Civil Affairs Department of the Seoul Western District Court will hold the first oral argument date for the damages lawsuit filed by Belief Lab, a label under Hive, against former CEO Min Hee-jin on January 10th of next year. The size of the lawsuit is said to be 2 billion won.

Last April, when the conflict with Hive was brought to light, former representative Min claimed that the main reason was that the group Ailit, affiliated with Belief Lab, plagiarized Adore's New Jeans. Former representative Min caused controversy by calling Ailit a "Min Hee-jin style" and a "copycat of New Jeans" for copying New Jeans.

Former CEO Min claims that Hive began an audit of him in retaliation for these claims. Later, during the legal battle between former CEO Min and Hive, the information provided by an internal employee of Hive regarding the copy of Belief Lab's New Jeans plan was made public, causing a huge stir.

Regarding the plagiarism controversy, Belief Lab has once again refuted the claims, saying, “Whether or not intellectual property has been plagiarized is not a matter that should be judged based on an individual’s unilateral and distorted interpretation, but rather based on reasonable standards and procedures. Nevertheless, we regret that the efforts and achievements of our artists and members are being belittled due to indiscriminate speculation and false facts.”

On the 24th of last month, Belief Lab CEO Kim Tae-ho appeared at the National Assembly Culture, Sports, and Tourism Committee’s state audit and said, “It is not true that Ailit plagiarized New Jeans,” and “We have filed a civil suit against Representative Min, who brought this matter, and are currently in the process of suing him. We are awaiting the judiciary’s decision,” and announced a lawsuit.

Ultimately, the truth of the dispute over the plagiarism of Ailit's New Jeans, which was a hot potato this year, will be decided in court next year.
