[All] Black Nuns Devil Name Cookie Ending Interpretation Review Kang Dong Won and more Honest Review!
The ending of the movie Black Nuns, the name of the devil, and even the hidden meaning! An honest review of the slightly eerie(?) hidden interpretation of Black Nuns and expectations for the sequel, starting now ^^

1. Black Nuns Demon Names
A question that stayed in my head from the beginning to the end of the movie,
“What was the devil’s name?”
It's been mentioned several times, but I was confused because I couldn't hear it clearly ^^;; It really shouldn't be heard at all.. When the devil speaks in a foreign language, there are subtitles, right?? I really prayed... that the devil would only speak in a foreign language.. ^^
The demon's name is actually Gamigin .
Gamigin is the fourth of the 72 demons of Solomon, and is said to have the ability to summon spirits or reveal secrets about the past and future. However, this important information was not conveyed in the movie, which was very disappointing... Not only was there no tension, but it was disappointing that we could not properly learn the demon's name...
2. Was there a video of the Black Nuns cookies?
What you're curious about is the cookie video, right? Haha
“I wonder if there’s a cookie video?” I thought, but there was no conclusion!
As the ending credits rolled, the sound of Yunia's prayer could be heard for a moment, but there were no additional scenes. Even so, the intention to leave a lingering impression of the film was visible, but it is regrettable that this lingering impression did not satisfy the audience. I expected a scene that hinted at a sequel or a more in-depth story, but in the end, I only felt regret for the movie ending... But I have to catch all 12 shapes? It ended with this feeling, so I wonder if there will be a sequel?
Next time, black pastors? black warriors? lol what could it be...
3. Interpretation of the ending of Black Nuns
Brief summary of the plot
This is the story of Sister Junia (Song Hye-kyo) and Sister Michaela (Jeon Yeo-bin) joining forces to perform an exorcism to save a boy possessed by a demon. Sister Junia overcomes her past trauma and leads the exorcism, while Sister Michaela, who has the ability to see ghosts, uncovers the true nature of the demon. In the beginning, the two have different opinions, so the story mainly focuses on the two main characters gathering their opinions to perform the exorcism together.
Ending interpretation
At the end, there is a scene where Sister Junia sacrifices herself and traps the devil in her body. However, the movie ends with a scene where Michaela seems to take on a new role, hinting at the possibility of a sequel. The ending left some curiosity, but it seems that there are more reviews that say it is disappointing because of the lack of tension and plausibility. (Of course, I am also disappointed ^^)
4. Black Nuns Review
Unconveyed message 💦
When watching the movie, I think most viewers would have thought things like "What's the devil's name?", "What on earth is the devil talking about..?" ㅋㅋㅋ The delivery of the lines was so unclear that I couldn't understand what was being said without subtitles. Song Hye-kyo's lines were good, but the lines of the devil and other characters were so hazy that it was hard to get immersed.
(Personally, many people say that Song Hye-kyo's acting is the same as Moon Dong-eun's, and it really is similar... but didn't you feel particularly uncomfortable? It's just that that's Song Hye-kyo's acting tone, what can I do... It seems to be a similar case with Gong Hyo-jin. Since they have similar acting tones, if the characters are similar, it feels like they're acting similar characters.)
Rather, I felt that Jeon Yeo-bin's supporting acting was great!
An improbable narrative 💦
In a story that mixes Eastern shamanism and Western Catholicism, I wondered, "What on earth is this?" The confrontation with the devil in the exorcism ritual was not enough to create tension, and in that sense, the flow of the story felt abruptly cut off. Tarot and guts came out, and exorcism rituals had to be done too... In some ways, it felt fresh, and in other ways, it felt too mixed. However, because there were various elements, the storytelling was not boring (personally).
And I was glad that Kang Dong-won made a special appearance ^^
A horror movie without fear 💦
For the audience who went there expecting a horror movie, this will probably be a huge disappointment. There was never a moment where I said, "Wow, I'm so surprised...!" There was no sense of suspense or tension that is expected from a horror movie, and there were no unexpected twists. When I watched the movie <The Grave>, I was overwhelmed by the eerie music and scenes, so I felt tense even without any other elements, but Black Nun doesn't have those elements, so if that's a shame, it's a shame. ^^
The Black Nuns had high expectations as a spin-off of the Black Priests, but overall, there were many disappointing aspects.
The setting of the devil's name and exorcism was interesting, but the lack of dialogue and plausibility made it less immersive, and it also lacked the tension of a horror film. Dong-won's brief appearance raised expectations for a sequel. If there is a sequel, I hope it will make up for the shortcomings of this one and come back with a more intense story. ^^ I look forward to it.
I hope this article helped you understand the movie, and if you have any questions or would like to share your review after watching Black Nuns, please leave a comment! 😊 I recommend this as a quick movie to watch this Lunar New Year ^^
