Actor Kim Sung-chul is causing controversy after it was revealed that he participated in a poll comparing the bodies of girl group members on Instagram .

The vote was conducted in a World Cup-style using photos or slow-motion videos showing the bodies of popular female idols. The problem is that this method sexualizes idols.

Netizens are strongly protesting, saying, "Isn't this not just a light voting issue, but sexual harassment?"

2. Eunbi Kwon vs Hyewon Kang's body vote?

In particular, the post that Kim Sung-chul voted for was comparing the body types of Kwon Eun-bi and Kang Hye-won. Since both of them are from IZ*ONE, it is becoming a hot topic.  

The controversy grew further when it was revealed that MeloMance's Kim Min-seok also participated in the same vote.

3. Kim Seong-cheol’s side explains, “I didn’t know it was a sexual harassment account.”
As the controversy grew, Kim Sung-chul's agency, Story J Company, explained, "We did not know that the account in question was controversial."

He then stated, “I admit my mistake and am reflecting on it. I will be more careful with my SNS activities in the future.”

Abyss Company, the agency of MeloMance's Kim Min-seok, also released an apology, saying, "We immediately cancelled the request after realizing that we had pressed it by mistake."

However, netizens are showing a cold reaction, saying, "How can you vote without knowing the nature of that account?"

4. Netizens' reaction: "The excuse of not knowing is even more absurd"

Currently, Kim Sung-chul's Instagram is flooded with comments such as "This is disappointing," "This is such an irresponsible action," and "How can you say you didn't know?"

The public's reaction is that it is not convincing for celebrities who are active on social media to claim that they were unaware of the account.

In particular, there are many opinions that it is problematic to unintentionally participate in content that sexually consumes female idols. There is ongoing criticism that celebrities should be more careful about their public image and actions.

Currently, neither Kim Sung-chul nor Kim Min-seok (MeloMance)’s agencies have made any additional statements.
