The New Jeans fandom Bernies has filed a complaint against Hive, Source Music, and two entertainment media reporters.
The law firm Opeth, representing Tim Bernies, announced to our newspaper on the 2nd, “On behalf of Bernies, our firm filed a complaint with the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul for violations of the Personal Information Protection Act and the Information and Communications Network Act, holding Hive, Source Music, and Dispatch responsible for the information leak and defamation caused by the article.”
He continued, “Although HYBE is the parent company of Adore, it cannot illegally collect and leak personal information about its subsidiaries’ CEOs and artists, or leak secrets obtained through work to third parties. The same goes for Source Music, another subsidiary of HYBE.” He added, “In addition, Internet users who write articles and spread malicious comments about New Jeans after receiving personal information illegally collected and leaked as mentioned above are spreading these again or making the damage worse, which is greatly damaging the reputation of New Jeans, and the damage is still increasing.”
While saying that, "The serious situation in which false information and accusations against New Jeans continue due to illegal acts is causing fatal damage and hurt to the artists who are still young," he said, "We have filed the complaint with the hearts of the fandom Bernie's who have come together to correct this through the severity of the law."
Attorney Lee Hyeon-gon of Saeol Law Firm said, “If the leaked KakaoTalk conversations were provided by internal sources within the company, such as the Hive PR team, this is a serious leak of personal information, and writing an article knowing this intention could also be considered an illegal act.”
A legal source who requested anonymity said, “The Dispatch reporter used footage and information that could not have been obtained unless they were an insider to report false information without the consent of the parties involved, which could constitute defamation and a violation of personal rights,” adding, “The company that leaked this could face problems such as violation of the Personal Information Protection Act.”
A representative for Team Bernie’s, who filed this accusation, told the newspaper, “After this accusation, we plan to continue to file third-party accusations against malicious posts related to New Jeans,” adding, “We have already classified and collected data on thousands of malicious posts, and we plan to additionally appoint two specialized lawyers to receive posts in the order in which they have the actual possibility of being punished.”
In addition, he said, "Newzine will protect us to the end no matter what happens, and another goal is to ensure that the fandom can be a variable for HYBE in the future," and "We are preparing various things other than an accusation, although we cannot disclose it yet."
Awesome Bernie's!!!
