[talk] New Jeans' Demand for "Min Hee-jin's Return" Finally Fails

The 'final ultimatum' of girl group New Jeans demanding the return of former CEO Min Hee-jin was ultimately not accepted.

Adore, the agency of New Jeans (Minzy, Hani, Daniel, Haerin, Hyein), announced on the 25th, “At today’s board of directors meeting, we resolved to convene a temporary shareholders’ meeting to re-elect Director Min Hee-jin as an inside director, but we cannot accept her request to return to her position as CEO.” This is a response 14 days after New Jeans members publicly requested “Min Hee-jin’s return” on YouTube ( page A12 of the 12th edition of this newspaper ). On the 11th, New Jeans members uploaded a YouTube video demanding Adore and parent company Hive, “Please reinstate former CEO Min by the 25th as the CEO in charge of Adore’s management and group producing.” On the 23rd, the members also met in person with new Adore CEO Kim Joo-young to request Min’s return, but her request was not accepted.

On this day, Adore also revealed, “We proposed to Director Min Hee-jin to take charge of producing for the remaining 5 years of New Jeans’ contract.” Instead of former CEO Min’s return to management, they proposed a compromise of ‘guaranteed terms as an internal director and producer.’

Former CEO Min immediately protested, saying, “It’s just a play on words.” He claimed in a statement, “At this point, I don’t know whether I will be reappointed as an inside director.” He also said, “I am wary that if the (producing) term is extended due to a wrong contract, I will not be able to guarantee normal artist activities at New Jeans,” and “I strongly demand that I be reinstated as CEO for the sake of normal artist performance.”
