Park Ji-hyun is no longer a 'promising trot singer'. Since winning second place on TV Chosun's 'Mr. Trot 2', she has left a strong impression on every stage. The title of 'trot singer' is only the starting point for describing her, but Park Ji-hyun is now steadily building up achievements beyond that. Her first solo concert and nationwide tour this year, 'Showmanship', sold out every single show, establishing her as a new box office icon in the trot world. Through entertainment programs such as MBC's 'I Live Alone' and SBS's 'Knowing Brothers', she has pleasantly narrowed the gap with the public with her savory Jeolla dialect and 'relatable' charm. Under the splendid lights and even in her daily life off stage, Park Ji-hyun always talks about her 'sincerity'. A man ready to devote his life to trot. We will tell you his honest story as told by Park Ji-hyun herself.
Q You're on a nationwide tour of 'Showmanship', right? I heard you had a concert in your hometown of Mokpo not too long ago. It must have been a new experience for you.
▲ It was great, but I was also very nervous. I invited my family and friends, and most of the people in Mokpo are people I know. I wanted to do better. Mokpo doesn't hold many concerts like this, so I also wanted to show the people in Mokpo that 'concerts can be this fun.'
Q Since it was your first solo concert, you must have had a lot of worries while preparing for it.
▲ I focused on making a fun stage. Looking cool was secondary, but I thought a lot about 'how can I make this performance exciting and not boring?' Since there are fans who come to the performances one after another, I changed the songs a little bit for each performance. However, I didn't want it to look too much like a fan meeting. Of course, satisfying the fans is a given, but I also wanted to make a stage that was truly a 'show' so that the general audience who were seeing my stage for the first time could enjoy it. I wanted to put on a fun stage even for people who didn't know me.
Jihyun, I really like your honest interview
