Tours, 'K-pop Rookie' Recognized by Billboard in the U.S.… "Steady Growth for a Year"

(Xports News Reporter Kim Ye-na) Group TWS (Tours) showed off their presence as the 'K-Pop Rookie of the Month' selected by Billboard.

Billboard, an American music media outlet, highlighted TWS (Shinyu, Dohoon, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon, Kyungmin) as the 'K-Pop Rookie of the Month' for January 2025 through an article on its homepage on the 27th (local time) (TWS Is Billboard's K-Pop Rookie of the Month for January).

Billboard named them the most popular K-pop group of the year, noting that the tour's debut song "First Encounter Doesn't Go as Planned" topped Melon's 2024 annual chart.

The outlet said, “Tours has taken a different approach from the music that K-pop boy groups have presented in recent years. They are a group that emphasizes the emotional resonance of their music based on the future bass genre.”

Billboard also expressed anticipation for the music they will present in the future, saying, “Just like the initial thrill they sang in their debut song, Tours has steadily grown over the past year. Now, they are ready to show an even more mature side.”

Tours said in an interview with Billboard, "We're so grateful to have received so much love from the beginning. More than anything, our debut song contains our youth, so we're even more grateful that more people sympathized with it than we had hoped."

When asked what kind of story they want to tell in 2025, Tours said, “We want to tell the story of how we’ve grown since our awkward first meeting, how we embrace various emotions, and how we’ve evolved to express our true feelings. We also want to show a wider range of musical colors.”

Finally, Tours expressed his excitement for the fan meeting to be held in February, saying, “Our first fan meeting is coming up soon. We are waiting for that day with great excitement.”

Meanwhile, Tours will be holding their first fan meeting '2025 TWS 1ST FANMEETING <42:CLUB> IN SEOUL' at the Olympic Handball Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul for three days from February 14th to 16th. All tickets for the three fan meetings were sold out in an instant through advance sales alone.
