BTS's Jimin moved everyone with his warm thoughts on being discharged after completing his military service. Jimin, who enlisted in December 2023 and served in the 5th Infantry Division Artillery Brigade for 1 year and 6 months, was officially discharged on June 11 at Yeoncheon Public Stadium in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do.
In his discharge speech, Jimin said, “Thank you for waiting for me without forgetting me,” and “I will return in a better form.” In particular, his request, “The military is not an easy place. If you meet soldiers on the street, please say a kind word to them,” drew a huge response online. Not only fans, but also former and active-duty soldiers, responded by saying, “I was comforted by Jimin’s words,” expressing their sympathy and emotion for Jimin’s sincere message.
Jimin is recognized as a 'model soldier' for his exemplary behavior in all aspects of military life, including receiving the division commander's award for the best trainee, selection as a special warrior, and early promotion. His thoughts on his discharge also received attention from overseas media outlets such as Reuters and Newsweek, proving Jimin's global influence once again.
