BTS V's ceremonial first pitch video continues to be a global topic of conversation, reaching 20 million views on the official MLB account.
On August 26th (Korean time), V threw out the first pitch at the game between the LA Dodgers and the Cincinnati Reds held at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, USA. Wearing a Dodgers uniform while BTS' hit song "MIC Drop" rang out, V showed off a perfect pitch with a clean form.
As news of V's ceremonial first pitch spread, ticket reservation sites temporarily crashed due to a surge in traffic, and ticket sales surged fivefold overnight. Before the game began, fans lined up outside the stadium to catch a glimpse of V, adding to the excitement.
As V took the mound, the stadium erupted in a thunderous roar. On-site reporter Kirsten Watson couldn't hide her surprise, saying, "That's the loudest cheer I've ever heard here."
The local broadcast team also did not spare their praise, saying, "V is a global sensation. He is undoubtedly a superstar," and "He threw a great changeup. I'd say sign him right away."
ESPN, the largest sports media outlet in the United States, reported, “The moment V entered Dodger Stadium, it became more than just baseball,” and “When he successfully threw a strike as a left-handed pitcher, the stands erupted in cheers and numerous cameras turned on simultaneously.”
V's first pitch resonated with not only BTS fans but also baseball fans. V fans responded enthusiastically, saying, "Can even a first pitch be this cool?", "The moment V stepped onto the mound, the baseball stadium became a concert hall", "He just threw one ball and the whole world went crazy", and "As expected, Kim Taehyung creates a stage wherever he goes."
I just threw a ball, but it's no joke.
