Jinis Lamp, an agricultural corporation in which Baek Jong-won, CEO of The Born Korea, and BTS' Jin (Kim Seok-jin) jointly invested, has been reported to the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service for violating the Country of Origin Labeling Act.
Today (the 23rd), a post was uploaded to an internet community gallery stating that CEO Baek Jong-won and Jin had filed a complaint with the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service against Jinis Lamp, an agricultural corporation in which they jointly invested, for violating the Country of Origin Labeling Act.
Person A, who stated that he filed a complaint directly, stated, "I filed a complaint because I judged that the country of origin labeling on the highball products sold by Genie Lamp Co., Ltd. could cause consumer confusion."
Representative Baek and Jin jointly invested in and established Genie Lamp in December 2022. The company launched the distilled liquor 'IGIN' in December of last year, but problems were raised with two of the products, 'Plum Flavor' and 'Watermelon Flavor'.
Person A raised an issue regarding the 'Plum Flavor' and 'Watermelon Flavor' products among the 'IGIN Highball Tonic' series sold by Genie Lamp on its online shopping mall, saying, "Even though they used imported concentrate, the country of origin was displayed as 'domestic' on the main screen and product information."
In fact, in the case of the plum-flavored product, the product information section was marked as ‘domestic’, but the product information on the detailed page was written as ‘plum concentrate’ (from Chile). In the case of the watermelon-flavored product, the product information section was marked as ‘domestic’, but the actual nutritional information was marked as ‘watermelon concentrate’ (from the USA).
Violation of the Act on Labeling of Origin, etc. may result in imprisonment of up to 7 years or a fine of up to 100 million won. Currently, the labeling of origin on the online mall has been changed to ‘indicated in detailed description.’
The National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service stated, "Since The Born Korea was sent to the prosecution for violating the Country of Origin Labeling Act last June, we will thoroughly investigate this case as well and, if any violations are confirmed, we will send the case to the prosecution."
Jin, I always hear good news, so I'm a little disappointed~~
