BTS Jimin, who donated 100 million won, said, "I'm scared of making a comeback after being discharged from the military, but...
BTS member Jimin sent greetings to fans for the Lunar New Year.
On January 29, Jimin opened up through BTS' fan communication platform Weverse by saying, "I enlisted in December of the year before last, and two years have already passed in the blink of an eye. I've been serving in the military for about a year and two months, and time seems to pass differently here. It's not easy, but there are still things I feel and learn, so I'm looking forward to the days when I can have fun conversations with you all about the things that happened during that time."
He said, "My daily life hasn't changed much. After all, since I'm in the military, I train, do my work, exercise, and before I know it, a day has passed and sleep comes again. I live the same daily life. If there's one thing that's different, the conversations that Jungkook and I have before going to bed have changed a lot since the year changed. As the days until we meet ARMY (BTS's official fandom name) are getting closer, we've been having a lot of conversations about what we need to prepare before we meet again, what kind of appearance we'll show in the future, and what kind of life we'll live in the future, thinking about that time."
They also honestly expressed their concerns about resuming their singing career in about 5 months. Jimin said, "To be honest, I'm a little 'scared'. It's been quite some time since we last performed together, and it's been a while since we devoted all our time to the stage and music, so I'm a little scared, but my heart that we will present the best stage for everyone who has waited for us remains unchanged. I will prepare really hard. I will work hard. I will return with a really good image."
Finally, Jimin added, "To our ARMYs, whom I miss and am so grateful for. Until the day we meet again, please stay healthy and I hope you always have a happy day. Happy New Year. I love you ARMYs."
Jimin has been serving faithfully in the 5th Infantry Division since enlisting in the army on December 12, 2023. His scheduled discharge date is June 11.
Jimin donated 100 million won to the soldiers ahead of his discharge. According to the Chungnam Community Chest of Korea on November 22nd last year, Jimin recently donated 100 million won to the 'Fund for Patriotic Comrades', which is being jointly run by the Chungnam Community Chest of Korea and the Army. The donation will be used to support the living expenses, medical expenses, and scholarships of the soldiers who have dedicated themselves to the country and their families.
With this, Jimin's total donation amount has surpassed 200 million won, which was the amount known during his military service. Previously, Jimin donated 100 million won through the Gyeongnam Future Education Foundation, an organization invested by the Gyeongnam Office of Education, in April of last year. Jimin's donation was used to provide college living expenses and social advancement funds for students from low-income families in the province.
Jimin is the representative donation angel of the music industry. Since his debut as a member of BTS in 2013, he has spread good influence by continuously doing good deeds in various fields for 11 years. In particular, he has been a role model by constantly donating to improve the welfare and educational environment of underprivileged children. The total amount of personal donations officially announced is 1 billion won. If you add up the amount donated by BTS members, it is even more than that.
Starting with donating the cost of summer school uniforms for his juniors at his alma mater, Busan Hoedong Elementary School, in 2018, Jimin donated 100 million won in educational donations to the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education in 2019, supporting low-income students at 16 schools in the Busan area, including Busan Arts High School and Geumsa Elementary School. In February 2020, he replaced 1,200 desks and chairs for all students at his alma mater, Busan Arts High School.
Then, in August 2020, he donated 100 million won to the Jeonnam Future Education Foundation as a scholarship fund, and in July 2021, he donated 100 million won to Rotary International, a non-profit international volunteer organization, to be used for polio patients around the world. In October 2021, he donated more than 100 million won to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation and became a member of the Green Noble Club, a group of high-value donors.
In 2022, he donated 100 million won to the Gangwon Provincial Office of Education. The Gangwon Provincial Office of Education operates the Gangwon Education Scholarship Foundation. Jimin’s donation was used to support talented individuals from vulnerable groups.
Not stopping there, Jimin donated 100 million won through the UNICEF Korea Committee in February 2023 to participate in emergency relief for children affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. In March 2023, he donated 100 million won to the Chungbuk Provincial Office of Education.
Wow, it's amazing how you keep donating huge amounts of money.
