Jimin walked slowly, silently passing through the hallway, a few steps ahead of her.
Sohee followed. Without a word, without a sound.
The sound of my shoe soles scraping against the floor was my only companion. One step, two steps—everything felt unfamiliar and heavy.
The building was quiet. The cold marble floors, the overly spacious living room, the air still.
But still, somewhere… I felt suffocated.
"here."
As he spoke, the automatic door opened.
It was like an office.
A large desk, organized papers, and a chair.
He sat down casually, looked at her and gestured.
“Sit down.”
Sohee hesitated before sitting down. The moment she sat across the desk from him, her cool gaze met his once again.
Eyes that show no emotion or even warmth.
“I will sign the contract.”
“A contract?”
"I said I'd work. Don't rely on emotions. This is a deal."
He took two sheets of paper out of the drawer and placed them on the table.
"For the next six months, you will work for me. All earnings will go toward debt repayment.
If you run away in the middle—I didn't write that much, but you can probably imagine it.”
Sohee looked at the documents.
The letters didn't catch my eye. They looked like chains, not words.
"What... is going on, that I can pay it back in six months? No way..."
"It's not what you think. It's noisy, so sign it."
"But you still have to say something..!"
“Write your name. Stamp it too.”
“..... Because I decided to do as you said..”
At those words, Sohee let out a small breath. She tried to pick up her pen, but her hands were shaking.
Jimin grabbed her hand and made her hold the pen.
"This is your opportunity. What are you worried about?"
Sohee looked at the hand for a long time, then wrote her name on the document.
One letter, one letter—it felt like I was carving not a name, but a destiny.
“Let’s stamp it,” Jimin said, neatly organizing the documents.
“Rest today. Your room is on the far right.
"You're not allowed to go anywhere without my permission. You're still in debt."
“…Is this confinement?”
“No. It’s a contract-based accommodation service. Meals are also provided.”
He said with a smile. Instead of answering, Sohee left. She walked slowly down the hallway and stopped in front of the last room.
When I opened the door, a fairly large room appeared.
A neat bed, a clean desk, and a well-ventilated window.
It looked comfortable, but it didn't feel free.
As she closed the door and turned around, she noticed a small surveillance camera hanging from the corner of the hallway ceiling.
There were eyes watching outside.
"This is a real prison... There's even cameras in the hallways."
She sat quietly, her lips trembling as she muttered:
"okay…
Just pay off your debt and leave.
“In that human life, you just have to disappear completely.”
But she didn't know yet.
That the man named Park Jimin himself is a prison from which there is no escape.
