[Episode 1] The day I entered that house
When I first stood in front of that house, I really wanted to go back.
The front door was big, fancy, and didn't suit me.
The dust on the soles of my shoes seemed to stand out for no reason.
I was anxious that even if I just breathed, I would make a sound.
Ding dong -
The doorbell sound was so clear.
I never heard anything like this in the neighborhood I live in.
A moment later, the door opened.
The sound of slippers dragging.
Someone wearing a hat walked out.
That kid. Kim Min-gyu.
It wasn't the first time I saw that face.
Because we were in the same class.
But when I looked closely, it was even stranger.
The eyes are sharp, and the jawline feels unkempt.
Nothing was out of place.
I felt a cold air from somewhere,
That comes from a person, really… kind of.
“Are you here?”
The voice was low and indifferent.
I managed to speak in a frozen voice.
"…hello."
“Come in here. There’s an empty room next to Mom’s room.
“It was originally a warehouse.”
I went inside carefully.
“Is it okay…? Isn’t it really a nuisance…?
He glanced at me.
Then he laughed very lightly. With his nose, as if mockingly.
“Your mom worked at our house for 10 years, so is it a nuisance to share a room with her?
And honestly… I don’t care if you’re here or not.”
“Ah… right… I’m sorry…”
“What are you sorry about? Go inside. Take care of your own food.”
He said so and closed the door to his room.
I put my bag down in an unfamiliar room with an unfamiliar smell.
As I was spreading the blanket, my hands stopped.
Kim Min-gyu.
A kid who is treated as a 'problem child' at school.
Good at fighting, doesn't talk much, and has a blank expression.
But what I felt now was… that wasn’t all.
There was a strange vibe about that kid.
I thought it was cold, but it wasn't like he openly hated it.
I thought we were keeping our distance, but they made us stay within the distance.
No, rather than that…
What was even stranger was that he didn't pretend not to know me.
When most kids see me, they treat me like I'm an 'invisible person'.
So I didn't know until then.
Who knows what he'll say in class the next day.
